On behalf of Greater Dolores Action, I would like to thank the community for an incredible turnout for the 8th Annual Dolores River Festival that took place Saturday, June 4th in Joe Rowell Park.

Over 1600 people filed through the main gate for general admission plus over 500 youth, 15 years old and under. The Festival featured a full day of live music, river activities, children’s activities and more. Fifty vendors disseminating information, offering activities, or selling food, drinks, gear, goodies and more participated in the event.

We would really like to thank the over 100 volunteers that helped from Thursday through Sunday with everything from Festival set-up, activities, admissions, security, and final clean-up.

We are especially grateful for the support of our sponsors including American Whitewater, City of Cortez, Dolores Water Conservancy District, KSJD, Osprey and Southwest Printing. Thanks too, to the Town of Dolores and to all of the local individuals, organizations, and businesses that play a role in hosting this event. We look forward to using a portion of the proceeds to implement river enhancement and conservation projects and to presenting the Festival again the first Saturday in June 2012. For more information about these projects and the Festival please visit www.doloresriverfestival.com.

Sincerely,
Shaine Gans, Festival Director
