Judge JenniLynn Lawrence sentenced two men to jail in connection with alcohol-related driving convictions in Montezuma County Court on Tuesday.

Joshua Begay was sentenced to 10 days in jail and a $300 fine for a second DUI while on a bicycle. Lawrence gave Begay credit for three days already served in jail.

The judge said that when bicycle riders are issued DUIs, it is sometimes more for to preserve the rider’s safety than the safety of any civilians around them.

Also Tuesday, Lawrence sentenced Brian Glass to 10 days in jail, a $300 fine and 24 months of probation for a second DUI conviction. The judge gave Glass credit for four days already served in jail.

Damian Martinez was handed a one-year deferred sentencing judgment in connection with a first DUI offense.

Lennie Clark was scheduled to be sentenced for an alcohol-related driving conviction, but there was confusion about how many prior convictions Clark had. His sentencing was rescheduled for Feb. 28.
