The Southwestern Cowbelles met at the Cortez Elks Lodge on Tuesday, May 17, with the meeting called to order at 2:10 p.m. by President Beverly Humiston. Eight members were present.
Committee reports were given: The blood drive was a success thanks to all for donating; we served a bereavement dinner; and we are collecting recipes for a new cook book. We had a booth at the Cortez Farmers Market on Saturday, June 4, where we offered handouts from Colorado Beef Council, lots of recipes, and had some of our items for sale.
The Southwestern Cowbelles and Southwestern Livestock Association are planning a picnic on Saturday, July 23, at 12 noon. The location will be announced later.
The next meeting of the Southwestern Cowbelles will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, at the Cortez Elks Lodge, 2100 N. Dolores Road. We will be accepting letters of notation for State Cowbelle of the year.
