Do not use our tax dollars to fund ALC

Several weeks ago, I attempted to reach out to one of our Montezuma County commissioners by inquiring via email as to whether he was considering continuing to utilize county tax dollars to help fund the American Lands Council in an attempt to wrest control of public lands from the public.

As a public servant and tax-paying resident, I don’t believe my question to be beyond the pale of inquiry. He has yet to respond, which means he either doesn’t know how to negotiate email or doesn’t feel my question is worthy of his time.

I find it troubling that our county commissioners are willing to spend taxpayer money towards an effort that they themselves do not have a game plan for, provided a public land transfer were to come to fruition.

Furthermore, this scenario is rife with irony in that the county commissioners are spending our tax dollars in an effort to deprive us of our public lands.

We are being taken advantage of on two counts.
