United Way of Southwest Colorado would like to extend a huge thank you to all the local businesses in Montezuma County who participated in the 100x$100 Challenge: Dolores River Camp Ground, Heart and Core Yoga Studio, FB Organics, Bill Stanley ReMax Realtor Associate, the Mail Room, Osprey Packs Copy Center, and Tuffy Security Products. Please remember to show your appreciation to these local businesses for their generous support the community.

From April through June of 2016 United Way of Southwest Colorado ran the 100x$100 Challenge throughout Montezuma and Dolores Counties, as a new initiative to its annual campaign. This concentrated effort provides area businesses the opportunity to help individuals, families, and neighborhoods right here in our community through United Way of Southwest Colorado.

Contributions raised during the 100x$100 Challenge will support 17 local nonprofit agencies. In 2016, United Way of Southwest Colorado raised more than $68,000 to positively impact the education, income, and health of people in Montezuma and Dolores counties.

Nonprofit organizations make a tremendous impact in our community in the vital services they provide to families and individuals, as well as the economic impact they have on the local economy. Karen Sheek, Major of the City of Cortez says, “There are over 250 non-profits currently registered in Montezuma County, generating a total income of over $142M. Many of these dollars come from local charitable donations, but a substantial amount comes from grants and foundations outside the area. These nonrofits run the gamut from private charitable foundations, Girl and Boy Scout Troops, school booster clubs and Farm-to-School organizations to community-based organizations like The Pinon Project and The Bridge Shelter that provide much-needed services to members of our community. Non-profits contribute to the quality of life in Cortez and Montezuma County.”
