At a time of such great tensions across the country between the public and police, it was wonderful to read the recent article about the Cortez Police Chief, Roy Lane, and his well-deserved Charles Pat Steele Award from the Colorado Association of Police Chiefs.
Our organization is privileged to have witnessed on so many occasions the incredible compassion and dignity with which the local police interact with our guests. This is not an accident. These behaviors are present because they are modeled and expected by the top of the Police Department. Having an entire department show up for the award ceremony speaks to the respect he has earned from everyone—including us.
Thank you, Roy and congratulations for your excellent work and service to the community!
