I am writing to express my concern about the suspension of registration at San Juan College for the medical lab technician program.
As a registered nurse at Southwest Memorial Hospital, I have seen the value of having qualified and competent medical lab technicians.
Difficulties in finding local qualified employees for nursing and the lab has been an ongoing struggle and has necessitated the frequent hiring of contract employees.
Continuing to have programs for growing medical professionals in the Cortez community is a benefit to all that live here. Please consider not only continuing to offer courses for local students, but growing the program to meet the ongoing need for medical lab technicians.
