In response to Neal Cantin’s letter to the editor (Journal, 5/18) there are a lot of problems we should address, but I don’t believe the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Department is one of our problems.

Recently, a drug bust was coordinated between a responsible marijuana business in Mancos and Sheriff deputies. The result was an out of state criminal is now in jail. I thank all involved for a job well done.

Any entity that has a Facebook page, public or private, has the right to manage it as they feel appropriate. This newspaper has the right to determine the content of its letters to the editor section, including to reject letters for publication. I believe some of us are too quick to pull out our pocket Constitution when we feel slighted.

From my perspective, the First Amendment remains alive and well in Montezuma County. Attested by the fact that I know someone is unhappy with the way the Sheriff’s Office manages their Facebook page.
