Snow covers a flower at the Holiday Inn Express as spring time in the Rockies hits Tuesday.

A winter weather advisory remains in effect until midnight Wednesday in the northwest and southwest San Juan Mountains, including Telluride, Ouray, Lake City, Silverton, Rico and Hesperus.

Snow is expected to continue through Tuesday night, with accumulations of 5 to 10 inches above 9,000 feet, and deeper snow above 11,000 feet.

Winds are expected to become westerly this evening and decrease to 15-20 mph.

Roadways may become slushy or snowpacked.

A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow and/or blowing snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibility. Use caution while driving.
