Business graciously helps with water damage

This past weekend, an employee at the Cortez Sanitation District, Phil, and the owner of Bravo! Cleaning and Restoration, Randon, assisted me through an unfortunate water damage incident. I can only assume out of the goodness of their hearts because they asked for nothing in return.

I recently purchased a vacant home in Cortez, and due to some water line breaks, was facing considerable water damage on a Friday afternoon. Phil from Sanitation came over to ensure there was no sewage in the mix, and what’s more, helped me get the water off and drain the heaving drywall that seemed about ready to burst.

The next morning, after a sleepless night, I began searching for a restoration cleaning service that could dry out my carpets, walls, framing and sheeting, and also mitigate any potential mold that might form. The first company Google located was out of Durango and serviced the Four Corners area.

After receiving the kind of estimate that compels one to search a bit harder, I stumbled upon a third generation owned company, Cortez’s own Bravo! Cleaning. Randon, who I later learned is the grandson of the original owner, agreed to meet me within hours, on a Saturday, to assess the damage. After spending over an hour at the house, he completely put me at ease and calmly offered instruction on how to dry out the affected areas myself. Not only did Randon not charge me (when he could have easily taken advantage of what is clearly a desperate situation for any homeowner), before he left, he took the time to write a handwritten statement on the nature of the damage, should I need to file a claim.

As a result of their kindness and excellent service, Phil and Randon made what was and is an unpleasant situation, tolerable. I can’t say I am glad this water event happened, but the support I received from these two individuals left me feeling good about investing in this community.
