Public Works staff has had busy winter

What a winter this has been! This winter is reminiscent of the ones we had 40 years ago when I first moved to the area. Lots of snow has meant that we may be close to breaking the drought or at least well-positioned to provide enough water for our farming and ranching community. On the flip side, all the snow and the extreme cold has really challenged our Public Works Department. The crews worked literally day and night to keep up with snow removal, and now that most of that is gone, they are hard at work trying to keep up with the seemingly endless number of potholes that have resulted from the combination of moisture and below-freezing temperatures. Permanent patches won’t be done until we’re sure we’ve seen the last of the snow and the warmer temperatures have stabilized. Meanwhile, I’d like to extend a big thank you to the Public Works staff for their efforts. I appreciate the long hours they have put in, their dedication, and their continuing efforts to maintain our streets during this difficult winter.
