I am concerned that the Montezuma County commissioners are considering not publishing some, if not all, legal notices in our local paper.
The commissioners have already restricted public comments at their meetings, limiting information, and not making public notices available — particularly regarding land use and zoning changes. This further reduces public knowledge and input. Not everyone has Internet access or perhaps wants it. Being informed in our communities is critical and should not be censored by the commissioners. The cost of ignorance is too great.
