Chapman Hill ski area officially begins its 2015-16 season Monday with the opening of the Little Tow from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Recreation Supervisor Matt Morrissey said until the Big Tow opens, tickets will be $4 for a lift up the local hill at 500 Florida Road. He added that the portion of Chapman Hill open has about a 1 foot base of snow.

Morrissey said the new $6,100 rope-tow that was severed earlier this month by a vandal has been fixed. All lifts are ready to operate, he said, but there isn’t enough snow to open the Big Tow lift.

“We’re anticipating opening Big Tow this weekend if enough snow falls out of the sky,” said Morrissey, adding if temperatures fall later this week, officials will be able to make snow.

According to a news release, ski and snowboard lessons will begin on Monday.
