Public Works comes to rescue in cold of the night

Sometime last Friday evening, a leak occurred on Cedar Street.

As I was returning home around nine that night, the guys from Public Works were in full swing, digging a hole to determine the problem so they could repair it. It was cold with a brisk breeze – not great weather for dealing with a water leak in the dark!

After 10:00, my husband took a walk down to the site to see how things were going, and work was still under way.

I don’t know what time the crew finished, but by Saturday morning, the leak was repaired and a road patch in place.

Chances are, most of my neighbors were not even aware there had been a problem.

In my role as mayor, I have been privy to much good work that the city staff does. Fortunately, most of it takes place during regular working hours, but it’s nice to know that regardless of when a problem occurs, that we have dedicated city employees who are on the job making things right ... and often without even our awareness that there was a problem because it was repaired before it became a real inconvenience to our citizens.

Thanks Public Works!
