Wednesday, Oct. 21

9:04 a.m. A man was ticketed for trespassing at City Market.

Thursday, Oct. 22

12:14 a.m. A man was ticketed for trespassing at Safeway after police observed him collecting cigarette butts out of an ash tray.

8:16 a.m. A man was ticketed for open container and alcohol possession at City Park after police observed him place a bottle of pure lemon extract into his pocket.

1:31 p.m. A man reported a damaged flow control device and pipe on the 200 block of South Sligo Street.

8:05 p.m. An arrest warrant for drug possession and drug paraphenelia was requested for a female passenger after police found methamphetamines, marijuana and a glass pipe inside a vehicle that was stopped for erratic driving near the Montezuma-Cortez High School. The woman was allowed to leave the scene on foot to pick up her children from the school while the driver was being questioned. The driver was ticketed for careless driving and lack of insurance. The woman reportedly left the children at Wal-Green’s before fleeing.

9:52 p.m. A motorist was stopped for speeding, 45 in a 30 mph zone, on the 700 block of East Main Street. The driver was arrested on an outstanding warrant and ticketed for speeding and driving with a suspended license.

10:40 p.m. Police responded to Wal-Mart for an employee with a gun in the oil aisle. The suspect was detained without incident after police determined the man was in possession of a BB gun. The man was arrested and charged with disturbing the peace.

Friday, Oct. 23

9:21 a.m. A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant after leaving his truck parked overnight at Big O Tires.

3:44 p.m. A man flagged police down near 5th Street and South Broadway to report a trespassing. The suspect was arrested near Mesa Elementary School and charged with the offense.

4:50 p.m. A man was arrested and charged with DUI and driving with a suspended license after leaving his vehicle parked in a stranger’s driveway on the 1200 block of South Madison Street and fleeing on foot into a canyon. Eyewitnesses said the man ran through a front yard with a prosthetic arm raised, yelling, “I’m (expletive) up.” Police said the man vomited repeatedly after being detained.

5:59 p.m. A man was arrested and charged with open container and alcohol possession at City Park.

10:41 p.m. A vehicle passenger was arrested on an outstanding warrant after a motorist was stopped for running a stop sign on South Madison Street.

Saturday, Oct. 24

9:47 a.m. A woman reported that she left her purse, which contained some $900, in a City Market shopping cart.

2:54 p.m. Three people were ticketed for open container and alcohol possession at Centinnial Park.

6:47 p.m. Police responded to a stabbing in the parking lot of Front Row Seats. Eyewitnesses reported that the alleged victim, who suffered multiple stab wounds to his side and back, fell in the median of Main Street. The following day, police searched a residence at Oak Meadows Trailer Park, where a man was arrested and charged with assault and obstruction.

Sunday, Oct. 25

12:45 p.m. A woman was ticketed for disturbing the peace and open container after police observed her urinating on the steps of the Cortez Library.

1:21 p.m. A motorist was arrested and charged with vehicular eluding, aggravated driving and speeding, 44 in a 30 mph zone, while driving westbound on U.S. 160. The suspect reportedly stopped in a Sikis Village driveway.

4:27 p.m. A man reported that his neighbor shot an arrow into his home breaking a window. The neighbor vowed never to shoot the crossbow again and pay for the damages.

Monday, Oct. 26

12:25 p.m. A man was arrested and charged with disturbing the peace and resisting arrest after leading police on a chase from City Market to Kemper Elementary School. One officer reported that he pulled his Taser, commanding the suspect to lie on the ground, but then opted not to deploy the stun gun in view of elementary students. The suspect reportedly attempted to hit officers before he was taken into custody.

7:57 p.m. A man was arrested and charged with disturbing the peace and ipublic intoxication after an euewitness reported the man punching and kicking the 1st Street Car Wash. Police said the suspect complained that Cortez was one of the 13 entrances to hell. The man also told police that he manufactured the best red, white and blue methamphetamines.

Tuesday, Oct. 27

2:30 p.m. A woman was arrested and charged with drug distribution, drug possession, drug paraphenelia, possession of a dangerous weapon, driving with a suspended license, lack of insurance and driving under restraint at the City Rec Center. Officers reported finding both methamphetamine and marijuana pipes, brass knuckles with a knife blade, digital scale, cut straw, baggies, lorazepam prescription pills, syringes, a torch and marijuana after a K-9 unit alerted on the woman’s vehicle. The woman’s cell phone was seized and a search warrant requested.

9:11 p.m. A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant on the 900 block of North Edith Street.

9:40 p.m. A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant after police responded to a fight at the Happy Valley Trailer Park.

Wednesday, Oct. 28

11:48 a.m. A woman reported that she observed someone stealing newspapers from a Journal newsrack located at Safeway.

3:38 p.m. A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant and charged with violating both a protection order and bond conditions at City Park.

4:48 p.m. A woman reported leaving her cell phone valued at $500 inside the Speedy Wash restroom.

6:06 p.m. A man reported that his girlfriend slapped him repeatedly and another man punched him in the face on the 500 block of East Montezuma Avenue. The woman was ticketed for assault and domestic violence. The other man was ticketed for assault.
