Zach McDonald (M-CHS) While the Panthers struggled on offense in a 42-0 loss to Bayfield, McDonald anchored the defense with 12 total tackles, including eight solo tackles and two tackles-for-loss.
Tyln Yarbrough (Dolores) Yarbrough may not be making highlight plays, but he impacts the game on both sides of the ball. His presence was felt again on Friday against Center. Yarbrough had seven carries for 30 yards, and defensively, he flustered the Vikings’ offensive line and recorded nine total tackles.
Axel Bonde (Mancos) Drew Morgan and Everett Strazza-Whalen deserve some love as key contributors to Mancos’ ridiculous 535 rushing yards against Sierra Grande, but Bonde gets this week’s recognition. The junior had 20 carries for 201 yards and three touchdowns in the Blue Jays’ 60-14 win.
Jordan Ernst (Dove Creek) Ernst was everywhere in Dove Creek’s 48-6 win over Sanford on Friday. Offensively, the senior passed for 60 yards and rushed for 144 yards and a score. Then on defense, he picked off three passes and recorded three tackles.
