Broadway singer coming to Cortez on Nov. 2

Gary Mauer, one of Broadway’s leading singers will perform in Cortez at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 2 at the new Montezuma-Cortez High School.

Tickets for the SouthWest Colorado Concerts show will go on sale at 6 p.m. Doors to the Ralph Vavak Auditorium will open at 6:30 p.m.

Mauer has starred in numerous major Broadway productions, including the role of the Phantom in “Phantom of the Opera.” Other Broadway and national tour credits for this singer include major roles in “Les Miserables,” “Showboat,” “Jesus Christ Superstar,” “Pirates of Penzance” and “Sweeney Todd.”

He has sung with numerous symphonies across the nation and has travel extensively with Marvin Hamlisch. He has several CDs including “This is the Moment,” “Bravo Broadway” and “Broadway’s Fabulous Phantoms.”

This will be Southwest Colorado Concert’s second of six planned concerts for the 2015-16 season. Watch for the two Celebrate! Local Talent concerts in mid-winter. The first concert will combine the young and old voices of the M-CHS choir and the Mancos Valley Chorus on Dec. 9. Watch for upcoming information about this not-to-be-missed concert and help the High School Choir get to the Kennedy Center.
