Lewis-Arriola fire seeks department volunteers

Volunteers are needed for the Lewis-Arriola Volunteer Fire Department.

Founded in 1975 as a volunteer district, the department serves northwest Montezuma County and assists districts in Dolores, Mancos, Cortez and Pleasant View.

Applicants must live within department boundaries or the buffer zone (1 mile outside the boundary), or within 5 miles of the Beulah Station (Road N and U.S. 491) or within 5 miles of the main station (Road S and U.S. 491). Applicants must be at least 18 years old, and pass agility and drug tests and a DMV records and background check.

Volunteers receive free training.
