Dove Creek junior Kiera Baughman dives to dig out a spike Friday against Sangre De Cisto.

The Dove Creek Bulldogs (0-5) were unable to come up with their first win when hosting the Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds (7-0) on Friday.

The Bulldogs played well in stretches, but couldn’t overcome their own errors and the dominating play of Sangre de Cristo senior Jenna McKinley.

Dove Creek junior Kiera Baughman and sophomore Marissa Hatfield had several impressive digs, and junior Shelby Fullmer had a few blocks at the net, but the Bulldogs couldn’t keep up with the Thunderbirds, falling in three sets (18-25, 20-25, 19-25).

Dove Creek will travel to Nucla on Tuesday, Sept. 22 to take on the Mustangs (6-1) at 4 p.m.
