$40,000 Set Aside for Building Dallas Road

According to the Montrose press, $40,000 has been set aside for the completion of the Dallas divide road from Leonard to Placerville.

Local Violators Get Hard Raps in U.S. District Court

Several local violators of liquor laws were recently given sentences in the federal district court at Denver.

Including in the list were Charles Griffith of Dove Creek, who was sentenced to a year at Levenworth, Charles Quintana sixty days in jail, Joe Velazquez, known here, a jail sentence.

Band Coming

The Navajo Indian band, of Shiprock, will be here next Monday, according to a recent announcement, to boost the Shiprock Indian fair to be held at Shiprock, October 2, 3, 4. Plan to be on hand Tuesday to hear the boys play.

Loans on Beans are Now Available

Loans on stored beans will be available to Colorado farmers this fall through the facilities of the farm credit administration of Wichita, it was announced last week by Ben. H. King, director of markets, following a conference in Wichita at the request of Gov. Ed. C. Johnson.

Approximately fifty per cent of market value will be obtained on pintos stored either on the farm, the track, or with dealers or cooperative associations.

New Mex. Lumber Mfg. Co. Plant Back on Job

C. W. Lilly is back on the job at the R. G. S. depot after a vacation of about a month, most of which time Mr. Lilly spent at Electra lake. Mr. Lilly says the worst part about a vacation is going back to work.

Another County Pioneer Crosses the Great Divide

Al Puett, one of the well known pioneers of the Mancos section passed away at the home of his son Glenn Puett, in Durango Sunday.

Funeral services were held at Mancos Wednesday afternoon and interment made at the Mancos cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Haines of Norwood are visiting their daughter Mrs. Edna Sagrillo and family.

The afternoon bridge club was entertained at the Violet Burt home Thursday. Mrs. Oma Harrel received prize for high score, Edna Sagrillo galloping and Eva Hart low.

Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Kuykendall and Dwight Jr., and Mrs. Eva Robinson were callers in McElmo canyon Thursday.

Mrs. LeRoy Roelfs spend the day Wednesday with Mrs. George Wedell.

Mrs. Euguenia Edwards is helping Mrs. Harold Caylor this week.

Mr. and Mrs. Virgil McMillian spend Sunday in Cortez with Mr. and Mrs. S. T. Roelfs.

High School Note

The glee club elected officers Monday, they are: President Alice Sangrillo; secretary-treasurer Dolores Harris; business manager Estelle Manners; librarian Lorraine Butler; pianist hazel Morrison.

The number of pupils in high school has increased from 112 to 116. If any more enroll we'll have to build a new school.
