The Dove Creek Bulldogs baseball team lost a doubleheader to the Ignacio Bobcats on the road Saturday afternoon, 10-9 and 14-10.
Dove Creek (1-12, 1-4 1A San Juan Basin League) led 9-7 in the first game going into the bottom of the seventh inning. The Bobcats cut it to 9-8 and the Bulldogs were an out away from their second win of the season. But Jeffrey Herrera hit a deep double to center field that scored two runs to win the game. Billy Ray Howell and Dalton Davis were 2-for-4 at the plate with one RBI and two RBIs.
The second game was another back-and-forth offensive slug-fest, but home field proved to be the difference again for Ignacio.
Dalton Randolph and Austin Norris hit 3-for-4. Randolph had two RBIs.
Dove Creek will be at Nucla today for another doubleheader with times starting at 1 and 3 p.m.
