Questions promote poor health habits

The Cortez Retail Enhancement Association interviews visitors and publishes the results in this newspaper. While I think it is a good idea to connect with visitors, I am disappointed in two of the questions asked. With a thriving Farmer’s Market, a growing Farm-to-School Program, and a innovative Orchard Restoration Project, the questions asked include, “Pepsi or Coke?” and “Hostess Twinkies are? ...”

Really? It is embarrassing to be asking those questions in today’s health conscious society. I suggest alternatives such as, “Apple or peach?”; “Water or apple cider?”; “Beef, lamb or vegetables?”; “Anasazi beans or pinto beans?”. These questions fit in with Cortez and are not promoting unhealthy foods or beverages.
