The Mancos Valley Distillery presents the Glenn Woody/Henkel/Tucker Hill Citizens Brigade on Saturday, Sept. 5.

Doors open at 5 p.m., and music starts at 8:30 p.m. Cover charge is $3.

The Tucker Hill Citizens Brigade came into being after combining the experimental three-piece group of Randy Rutten, Craig Cullen and Glenn Woody Henkel, with the drumming abilities of David Chamberlain. As a four-piece band, it recorded their first CD, “The Good Life?” in Chamberlain’s basement studio, then played out for a year in support of that CD. While prepping material for their second CD, Woody Henkel had a bad fall at work and broke his wrist and elbow. That took him off of guitar duty and just about ended the band. However, several guitar player friends stepped, and Woody Henkel went to keyboard duty, which he do with a good right hand and left arm in a cast.

After they got back on their feet, they became a five-piece band, and their sound had changed so much there was no going back. So for the past year, the band has been composed of Jason Ferguson on guitar, Rutten on bass, Chamberlain on drums, Cullen on percussion, and Woody Henkel on keyboards and as lead vocal.

They just wrapped up the recording sessions for CD No. 2 and is with the full five-piece lineup. They are now touring for the next year to support this project.
