Theft case continued for local woman
In custody on no bond after violating court orders, Christina Hurst, 28, of Cortez, had an arraignment hearing continued until Sept. 21. Hurst was arrested in May and charged with motor vehicle theft and two counts of theft. Officials said the bond violation occurred after she was arrested for shoplifting. A defense request to reinstate the original $1,500 bond was granted.
Bench warrant issued for DUI convict
After failing to appear for a revocation hearing, a bench warrant was issued for Alexandra Silas, 35, of Towaoc. She initially pleaded guilty to DUI in 2014, and was sentenced to 12 months in jail with credit for time served and three years of probation, which including 80 hours of community service, therapy and treatment.
Revocation leads to jail sentence
In custody, Clint Laner, 25, of Towaoc, pleaded guilty to assault as part of plea deal during revocation proceedings. He was sentenced to 24 months in jail. Laner initially pleaded guilty to DUI in 2013, which resulted in 60 days in jail, some $28,000 in restitution and three years of probation.
DUI conviction leads to jail for local man
After pleading guilty to DUI, Shrell Begay, 29, of Cortez, was sentenced to one year in jail with credit for time served followed by two years of probation stemming from 2014 arrest.
She was also ordered to seek outpatient treatment and submit to random alcohol testing.
