The Cortez Leopard Sharks Swim Club traveled to Fort Morgan, Colorado for the Colorado Seasonal Club Championships on July 31 - August 2.
The Leopard Sharks were one of 21 teams competing, and captured 1st place in the Medium Team Division and finished 7th overall.
Bailey Duran competed in 10 events, and with first place finishes in four events and 135 total points, she claimed first overall in the 15-18-year-old girls’ division.
Victoria Duran finished second overall in the 11-12-year-old girls’ division with 129 total points. She won the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard breaststroke, and her 1:11.01 finish in the 100-yard backstroke broke the meet record of 1:11.86, previously set in 2000.
On the boys’ side, Ryan Cutrone came in third overall in the boys’ 13-14 division and Cody Farias finished third in the boys’ 11-12 division.
Cutrone finished with 105 points after competing in nine events, finishing second in three events, and Farias scored 101 points with top-three finishes in three events.
Other swimmers that competed for the Leopard Sharks were Delta Suckla, Tyler Cutrone, Caisey Duran, Bobby Likes, Lizzie Likes, Jasea Embry, Piper Baxstrom and David Crumpacker.
