Dunton Hot Springs, upriver of Dolores, was recently featured in an article on onlyinyourstate.com that declares, 'These 10 Camping Spots in Colorado are an Absoloute Must See'.

The website describes Dunton as, "Not your average campsite, but still worth noting because the views are out of this world, accommodations are pristine and it is right next to some of the best fly fishing in the state."

Topping the list was Crested Butte.

K-9 SAR welcomes donations

Because the K-9 Search and Rescue team is a nonprofit organization, they have put up a site welcoming donations to help cover costs such as transportation to and from searches, as well as administrative and training costs.

Based in Dolores, the team responds to wilderness, water, snow, urban, air-craft, evidence, and disaster searches in 11 states. They also teach about what they do and why. This summer, they presented at the Dolores Public Library reading program.

As of Tuesday, Aug. 4, $200 had been raised of their $500 goal. If you would like to donate, there are nine days left of the fundraiser. You can donate on tilt.com. The title of the page is K-9 Search and Rescue Team Inc Fundraiser.

They will also host their annual Community Pancake Breakfast at the Doghouse this Saturday. Breakfast starts at 6 a.m. for early birds, and runs until 10 a.m, so even if you like to sleep in you won't miss it. The cost is $5 per person, and funds the team's costs.

Call for volunteers

The Dolores Rotary Club is looking for volunteers to help at Escalante Days. They need people to help for a few hours with timing and traffic control. Volunteers get a cool race shirt. If you are interested and missed the volunteer meeting yesterday, call Chris at 970-570-9425.
