Course offerings will expand this fall when Southwest Colorado Community College (SCCC) East Campus adds new certificate programs in Medical Imaging.

SCCC will add a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Certificate program this fall in addition to a Computed Tomography (CT) Certificate Program.

These are professional development opportunities for registered Radiologic Technologists. Both classes will be offered primarily online through Pueblo Community College with the exception of clinical experience components.

"The completion of these additional certificates will make students more marketable in this growing medical field," said Shawna Chamberlain, PCC Medical Imaging Technologies Chair.

Anyone interested in attending classes or would like more information is encouraged to e-mail Chamberlain at Shawna.chamberlain@pueblocc.edu.

The new programs start this fall semester with classes beginning Aug. 24, with enrollment open now and priority registration ending Aug. 7. Each of these programs can be completed in just two semesters and provides hands-on training with advanced medical imaging equipment. At program completion, students will be eligible for the AART Registry Exam. The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART) sets standards in the field and creates examination procedures, ethical standards and continuing education requirements.
