Alzheimer’s support group meets July 15

The monthly support group for caregivers and families of Alzheimer’s or other dementias will meet Wednesday, July 15, at 6:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Cortez, 515 N. Park St.

The meeting is facilitated by Elaine Stumpo, of the Alzheimer’s Association and is open to all caregivers. If you have questions, contact Elaine at 970-259-0122.

Geer Memorial Car Show is Aug. 8

The George Geer Memorial Car Show, hosted by Southwest Chapter 2 Blue Star Moms, is Aug. 8 in Centennial Park.

Registration for participants is $25 at Angel’s Endzone on Friday, Aug. 7 at 5:30 p.m. or $35 on Saturday, Aug. 8 at 8 a.m.

The show opens to the public at 10 a.m., with an awards ceremony at 3:30 p.m. and a cruise afterward.

On Aug. 7, there will be a burn-off contest at Angel’s Endzone. The entry fee is $25, and trophies will be awarded.

Little Legs Adventures program starting up

Bring your little legs (toddlers and preschoolers) to one, or all, of the Little Legs Adventures.

The program takes place at Denny Lake in Cortez on the following Fridays at 10–11 a.m.: July 24, 31 and Aug. 7.

Kids will learn about local critters, explore the natural world, read related books and have fun with friends each week. The program is free and is sponsored by San Juan Mountains Association, San Juan National Forest and BLM Tres Rios Field Office.
