School News: Superheroes wanted to serve as mentors

Superheroes are wanted to serve as Americorps Check & Connect Mentors in Southwest Colorado. Talented and motivated people 18+ are encouraged to apply for this opportunity, which includes 11 months of community service as a school based mentor. Mentors will receive a monthly living allowance, health care coverage, valuable work experience, and other benefits. Positions are available in Cortez, Durango, Dolores, and Mancos. Service starts Sept. 1, 2015, and ends in July 2016.

New student registration

Registration for new students to the Dolores School District K-12 will be held in the school cafeteria on July 15, from 2-6 p.m. The registration is only for students who have never gone to the Dolores School District or are returning after being gone from the district for a year or more.
