Coming up with a viable business idea is hard enough for most entrepreneurs, but getting it from an idea to a thriving operation can be even more daunting.

To help native entrepreneurs get their business plans off the ground, the Ute Mountain Ute Economic Development Division in partnership with Redwind LLC is holding a free workshop on July 9 and 10 centered on entrepreneur support and empowerment.

"The biggest thing is that we're reaching out to entrepreneurs this time, usually its about the bigger business, I really like this workshop because we're focusing on the smaller business," said Ute Mountain Ute economic development specialist Tawnie Knight.

This workshop is one of 21 other Native American Entrepreneurial Empowerment Workshops, are provided to Native communities across the country through support from the United States Small Business Administration Office of Native American Affairs.

The July 9 and 10 workshop at the Ute Mountain Casino's Buffalo conference room is slated to cover basic business concepts for anyone starting up or running a small business as well as more comprehensive information for those further along in the development process.

Instructors will identify and help participants avoid common pitfalls, and offer training on topics ranging from business planning, access to capital, basic bookkeeping, human resources, problem-solving and marketing.

The event is free to attend and open to the public.

All class materials and refreshments will be provided to participants at no cost.
