Wednesdays are the yummiest days of the week here in Dolores. Here's a sampling of tasty offerings in town.

The Dolores River Campground is serving up pizza every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The mouth-watering wood-fired pizzas are made by Monica Marty and Beth Peisner, of Sweetwater Gypsies Pizza, who also cater.

If you'd prefer something on the lighter side, the Dolores Farmers Market is back at Flanders Park on Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tasty strawberries are in season, as are salad greens and asparagus. The vendors have everything from locally grown fruits and veggies to home-baked bread and homemade ice cream.

Speaking of produce, the Dolores Food Market recently celebrated 19 years as a family business. They have fresh fish on Thursdays and fresh bread on Fridays. Don't forget to check in on Mondays for inventory just off the truck.

And, finally, did you stock up at Dolores General Store's 21st anniversary sale? On Saturday, the store offered 21 percent off everything in the the store, with free ice cream cones.

Reaping what you sow

The Good Samaritan Center has suggested planting one extra vegetable plant this summer and donating the fresh veggies to the center. They feed an average of 480 people a month and are located at 25½ S. Elm St., in Cortez. Donations are accepted Monday through Thursday from noon to 2 p.m.

A Biblical journey
