Mancos looking for a few good brands

The town of Mancos' Beautification Project is looking for local ranchers to help brand planters downtown on Saturday, June 13, 4-7 p.m.

Bring your branding irons to help decorate five wine barrels. Meet at the GMC lot at Main and Grand, across from the Absolute Bakery.

Enjoy some chile and tortillas, and bring a dish to if you like.

RSVP by Wednesday, June 10.

More information: Leslie at 533-7725 or Boe Hawkins at 739-6613.

Mancos library hosts quilt workshop

The Mancos Public Library and Dolores Mountain Quilters plan a free quilting workshop at the library on Tuesday, June 16, at 12:30-3 p.m.

Kathy Sehnert will lead the session on how to make Cathedral Window quilt blocks. Participants will make a sample block and review instructions for using the block for a boudoir pillow. This block is easily hand-sewn, but can be made using a machine. Bring your sewing machine if you prefer the machine technique.

White "Kona" muslin for the background and colored fabrics scraps will be available for the sample, or you may bring fabrics of your choice. The sample will require four 9-inch squares of background fabric and four 2½-inch squares for centers. If possible, bring needle, thread, thimble, scissors, pencil or fabric marker and ruler or seam gauge.

Teens are welcome, and children under 13 can join with an adult. RSVP by Monday, June 15 at 970-533-7600.
