In 2004, the City of Cortez passed Ordinance No. 1013, permanently banning irrigation watering between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. from May 15 through Sept. 15 every year.
Southwest Colorado is still experiencing drought conditions with below-average mountain snowpack; thus, residents are urged to practice beneficial water usage and be extra careful not to waste water.
