M-CHS fundraising gets early start

The M-CHS Booster Club will be sending student athletes out into the community to start selling ads for the 2015-16 athletic seasons to get an early start so that athletes will have the fundraiser behind them when it comes time to start training and practices in fall.

Businesses and community members are encouraged to help athletes funds for meals, uniforms, equipment and other purchases.

Donors can expect visits through August for M-CHS fall sports.

Summer reading series starts June 3

The 2015 Cortez Public Library’s Summer Reading Program’s Family Entertainment Series will kick off with Mr. Kneel Hip-Hop for families on Wednesday, June 3, at 2 p.m.

Join Neil McIntyre and his special blend of hip-hop for an entertaining hour. It’s real hip-hop, but done in a wholesome way that will make parents cool with what their kids are listening to. Neil tells every hero’s story.

This entertainment if brought to you by Golden Dreams under Onward!, a Legacy Foundation.

M-CHS 1955-59 class reunion set

The M-CHS 1955-1959 Class Reunion is set for Sept. 12 at the high school where they graduated, the current Cortez Middle School, at 9 a.m. for drinks and treats.

At 11 a.m., the group will tour the new M-CHS building. Starting at noon at the Lewis-Arriola Community Center, the group will meet for a catered lunch. The cost is $50 per couple or $25 for a single. Paid reservations must be made by Aug. 1. Rodeo committee hosts two Rodeo Days

The Ute Mountain Roundup Rodeo Committee is again hosting two Rodeo Days at the Cortez Public Library to promote rodeo and ranch life to children.

The committee is planning stories, songs, explanations of rodeo and ranch equipment use, talks by the rodeo royalty, crafts, steer roping and a photo op.

Each child receives a free rodeo ticket (if accompanied by an adult ticketholder.)
