A new retail marijuana shop could be coming to Cortez, pending approval from the Cortez City Council on April 28.

On the agenda is approval of a retail marijuana permit for Acme Healing Center of Cortez, to be built at 980 S. Broadway.

The owner, Chris Sanchez of Ridgway, also owns Acme Healing Center marijuana shops in Durango, Ridgway, Carbondale and Crested Butte.

According to the meeting agenda, the location meets zoning and distance requirements.

If approved, Acme would be Cortez’s fifth retail pot shop.

Also up for consideration is a 2015 meter relocation project to D&L Construction, at a bid of $354,105.

The council also will consider contracting with Southwest Statistical Consulting for $2,000 to complete a resident survey for city fiber.

The council meets at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 210 E. Main St.
