Free books for 4-year-olds available at Cortez library

One Book 4 Colorado, the popular reading campaign that puts books in the hands of 4-year-olds and encourages families to read together, is back with book giveaways scheduled through the month of April across the state.

One Book 4 Colorado is a collaborative campaign that gives more than 75,000 free copies of the winning book in English or Spanish to Colorado 4-year-olds at public libraries and Reach Out and Read Colorado health clinics.

Gov. John Hickenlooper, Lt. Gov. Joe Garcia, Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock, and other celebrities kicked off the 2015 program by reading aloud the winning title, “How Do Dinosaurs Get Well Soon?” by Jane Yolen and Mark Teague, to Denver preschoolers at the Reach Out and Read Colorado Statewide Conference on April 13th.

Visit www.onebook4colorado.org for reading tips, information on early literacy and more.

To get a book for your 4-year-old just drop by the Cortez Public Library and pick one up. Offer good while supplies last. The library is located at 202 N. Park St. and may be reached by calling 970-565-8117.
