M-CHS band boosters selling raffle tickets

The Montezuma-Cortez High School Band Boosters are selling raffle tickets to raise money for the band program. The raffle takes place at the All-District Band Festival on Monday, May 4, at M-CHS at 7 p.m.

Grand prize is a home theater system including a 55-inch HDTV, surround-sound stereo, and BlueRay/DVD player that is valued at over $2,250.

Second prize is a Specialized mountain bike from Kokopelli Bike & Board valued at over $860.

Tickets are one for $10 or three for $20.

Raffle Tickets will be sold at a variety of upcoming community events throughout April.

All money will be going to help support our award-winning MCHS band program.

Development hearings on April 23

On April 23 beginning at 6 p.m. there will be two public hearings on development proposals in the county.

A 120-lot RV park is being planned on vacant land east of Colorado 145, north of County Road M.

Daren and Kathy Stone have submitted development plans for the 25-acre property, owned by the Ruth Hoffman Living Trust. Entrance would be via a right-hand turn lane from the highway into the parking lot of the nearby Pro Build construction company.

The planning board will also hold a public hearing on a proposal to create 20, three-acre home sites on 70 acres south of Road M and East of Road 20. The property is owned by Akin Adventures Inc.

Dinner and a movie at Hananiah’s Ranch

The Permaculture Provision Project hosts a Dinner and Movie Night, featuring short films about Permaculture and a tasty Curry dinner with Spicebox Homes Spicecake on Saturday, April 25. Doors open at 6 p.m. at Hananiah’s Rest Ranch, 10501 Road 20, Cortez.

Suggested donation is $10 per person.

Films include excerpts of John D. Liu’s “Hope in a Changing Climate.” Hear how about John’s latest trip to our region and a developing effort at filming the largest land restoration effort in U.S. history in the Four Corners.

Caution: Google maps sometimes gives wrong directions. The ranch is on Road 20 about 2 miles South of Road N.
