Story left out decency and compassions

Once again, the Cortez Journal has sunk to another disgusting low. The article headlined “Woman avoids jail, again” (Journal, March 20) showed us that this paper continues to forget to show decency and compassion for our small town.

This is not news; this is a personal struggle this young woman and her family are dealing with. This young woman is far from perfect but don’t air her issues for the world to see. You don’t seem to be printing front-page articles on every court case is this town but yet when a well known (and dearly loved family I might add) goes through a difficult time, you seem to take pride in airing their pain in the most public light possible.

I watched the Journal do this couple years ago and voiced my opinion then as well. You have elevated my disgust for your paper to a new height and its thirst for “news.” Try remembering where you are and develop a heart before writing stories like this.
