Thursday, March 19

1:47 a.m. A deputy responded to a home in Dolores on Hillside Drive for a report of a hit and run. The man living at the home stated a vehicle ran through is front yard fence and then left the scene. The accident woke the man up. Deputies later located a vehicle matching a description giving by the home owner with significant damage to the front. When deputies ran the plates of the vehicle, it was determined the owner had a warrant for his arrest. The owner of the vehicle eventually came out of the home, after being told to do so by his parents, and was arrested. When asked what happened, the driver said he was trying to light a cigarette and looked down to find a lighter. When he looked back up his wheel had turned and he was heading toward a fence. He knew he had a warrant so he panicked. He was arrested without incident and taken to jail.

6:21 p.m. Someone called the Sheriff’s Office to report a found cell phone in Dolores at the intersection of 8th Street and Railroad Avenue.

Saturday, March 21

6:35 a.m. A man was issued a speeding ticket near the 12000 block of Highway 491 for going 98 mph in a 65 mph zone.

Monday, March 23

9:20 a.m. A report of possible identity theft was taken by a deputy. According to the reporting party, she had received a letter from the IRS, stating they needed more information regarding her 2014 tax returns. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that she had not filed her tax returns yet and assumed the letter in the mail was a scam.

Thursday, March 26

7:00 a.m. An officer responded to a home located in the 13000 block of Road 25.6 for a report of a stolen dog. The dog’s owner said she left for one day and one night to travel to Grand Junction, when she returned her border collie/terrier mix was missing. The dog is white in color with a black head and white blaze going down its nose and is very friendly. There are no leads in this case.

Monday, March 30

5:10 p.m. Four yearling Hereford calves were reported missing from a fenced-in pasture.

6:00 p.m. An officer responded to the 3200 block of Road R for a report of a stolen vehicle.

Tuesday, March 31

2:30 p.m. An altercation involving a knife reportedly occurred inside a vehicle in the 21000 block of Road G between an passenger and a driver. The driver of the vehicle reported that he was assaulted by the passenger with a knife and that the man had taken off. The knife, nor the man, were never located.
