A teacher at Dolores Elementary School found out that her garage was destroyed by fire last week along with portions of her home.

Dolores firefighter Frank Lopes said crews contained the fire and stopped it from spreading to the rest of the house. Aside from the garage, a hallway and a bedroom were badly damaged.

The Dolores PTA has set up a fundraiser for the second-grade teacher who lived near Summit Lake.

Donations are being collected at the Lounging Lizard, 2 West Main Street, in Cortez.

Prom is nearly here

OK, Dolores High School students, there are exactly nine more days until prom. So, if you haven't found that perfect dress, suit or date for that matter, then you better get going.

This year's theme is Passport to Paris.

After prom, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes will host an after prom movie party at Cameron Elder's house. Anyone is welcome for this drug- and alcohol-free party. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Please ask Cam if you have any questions.
