Archer to coach at all-state games

After leading the Mancos High School boys cross-country team to a second-place finish at the Colorado State Cross Country Championships last fall, head coach Brady Archer has been selected to coach at the Colorado High School Coaches Association All-State Games in Alamosa, June 9-13.

A math teacher at Mancos High School, Archer has been coaching the Mancos cross-country programs for 13 years and during that time, has coached several all-conference athletes.

A self described "numbers geek," who keeps track of various statistics pertaining to his runners performances, Archer pushes his runners to train year round been successful in creating a team-first atmosphere in both his boys and girls programs.

"I try to get a family culture on the team," said Archer, during an interview with The Mancos Times in 2013. "We have team dinners so everyone can get together and have some place to hang out. We try to be positive about who we are as a team."

With the vast majority of the boys cross country team returning next season, expect the Bluejays to contend for a state title next season.

Between now and then however, their long time head coach will have the opportunity to lend his expertise to some of Colorado's top all-state runners.
