We cannot find words to express our heartfelt thanks to Brad Ray, patrol sergeant and Justen Goodall, patrol deputy with the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office for the kindness they showed to us on Jan. 23. We reported on Jan. 22 in the early afternoon that our little Pug Denver, our dog for all 12 years of his life, was missing. We know that the Sheriff’s Office has more important things to do than look for our dog, but thought an officer might see him by chance while out on patrol.

We received a call from Sergeant Ray the next morning around 10 a.m. stating that he was very sorry, but they had found Denver but he was deceased. Those two officers dug “Denver’s grave and buried him for us. This was an act of caring, compassion and thoughtfulness that goes beyond the call of duty.

Officers these days seem to get only bad publicity and we would like to say, please let’s support our police and sheriff’s departments for they are there to protect and serve when we need help.” Thank you again to Sergeant Ray and Deputy Goodall.
