Revenge felt sweet for the Montezuma-Cortez High School girls basketball team.
Playing on the road against Alamosa High School on Jan. 31, the Lady Panthers avenged an early season loss to their Intermountain League opponents in the form of a 51-40 victory.
M-CHS trailed 12-11 at the end of the first quarter before fighting back to take a 24-20 lead at halftime. The Lady Panthers then outscored Alamosa 27-20 in the second half to secure the victory.
The Lady Panthers lost to Alamosa 49-39 earlier this season.
With the victory, M-CHS improved to 6-8 on the season, while Alamosa dropped to 4-9 with the loss. Next up for M-CHS will be a key league matchup at home against Monte Vista on Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m.
