Wednesday, Jan. 21

9:57 a.m. An officer arrested one man at Walmart for violation of a protection order.

2:04 p.m. An officer responded to the Mesa School for a report of a dog bite. A woman said she bent down to give a dog a treat and pet the dog, and the dog, which was on a leash, bit her when she started to turn away from the dog. The woman who had the dog was very apologetic that the dog, named Peaches, had bit someone and added that she was just keeping the dog for someone else. The officer knew that Peaches had bitten two other people. The woman was issued a citation for keeping a vicious animal.

3:01 p.m. A man in the 700 block of E. Third Street reported that grow lights from his marijuana grow area near his garage had been stolen.

Saturday, Jan. 24

9:54 a.m. A burglary was reported at a beauty salon in the 200 block of East Main Street. A brick was reportedly thrown through a window and a necklace was missing. The necklace was valued at $30. The window was valued at $500.

Sunday, Jan. 25

1:37 a.m. Officers responded to the 200 block of N. Sligo for a report of a fight between women in the driveway. When the officers arrived, one woman took off running. She was asked to stop and an officer grabbed her left arm and commanded her to stop. The woman yelled, “You cannot illegally pursue me!” She was then placed in handcuffs, where she continued to yell at the officers. She was issued a summons for disturbing the peace and resisting arrest and taken to jail after being cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital because of a suspected high level of intoxication.

3:42 p.m. Officers responded to the area of S. Harrison St. and E. main Street for a report of a male staggering in the road. When the man was approached he was walking in and out of the roadway. When asked by officers to leave the road, he refused to do so. He smelled of alcoholic beverage and had slurred speech and watery and bloodshot eyes. The man was arrested. The man refused to stand and another officer arrived to help transport the male. The man was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital where he started spitting one hospital employees, a spit guard was placed on the man. Once cleared by medical staff he was wheeled to the patrol vehicle, he refused to stand, and once inside the vehicle, he started to kick the door. Leg hobbles were placed on the man and he was transported to the jail. He was issued a summons for intoxicated pedestrian in the roadway.

9:29 p.m. Officers arrived to a residence in the 300 block of East 3rd Street for a report of a man who was intoxicated and pulled a machete on his wife and kids. The man was arrested and issued summons for domestic violence, child abuse and felony menacing.

Monday, Jan. 26

4:45 p.m. Police issued two men for disturbing the peace near the Cortez Public Library. The two men apparently fought, one head butted the other.

Tuesday, Jan. 27

6:47 p.m. A vehicle versus pedestrian accident was reported in the 1700 block of E. Main Street near the Safeway grocery store. A man was seen sitting on the roadside with a laceration on his right elbow. The driver of the vehicle said she was driving east on Main Street and didn’t’ know where the man came from. The man, who was transported to the hospital, said he was attempting to cross the road and thought the road was clear. The man admitted to consuming two pints of vodka and a three liter vodka earlier. The man was issued a summons for intoxicated pedestrian in the roadway and pedestrian failed to yield right of way to vehicle.
