Benefit for Grace’s Kitchen

The artwork of Buford Wayt will grace the walls of Grace’s Kitchen, and on Sunday, Feb. 8, starting at 1:30 p.m., there will be a showing of the paintings. Lee Bartley, a local pianist who plays on the national musical stage, will be doing a solo piano concert as well, starting at 2 p.m. A reception will follow. A free-will offering will benefit Grace’s Kitchen.

Soups of the World to benefit the Bridge Emergency Shelter, 5-7 p.m. at the Montezuma County Annex on North Chestnut. Soups, salad, bread and live dessert auction, silent auction of interesting items. Tickets $10 for adults, 12 and under eat free.

Saturday, Jan. 31

The Dolores Groundhog Supper comes back. A pulled-pork dinner with all the fixin’s, 4-6:30 p.m. in honor of the groundhog’s prediction at the United Methodist Church at 105 N. 8th Street in Dolores. SouthWest Colorado Concerts holds its annual board of directors meeting at 6 p.m. in the conference room at the First United Methodist Church, 515 N. Park, Cortez. All season ticket holders are welcome.

Annual Mancos Citizen of the Year Award and Social at 6 p.m. in the Mancos Valley Visitor Center, 101 E. Bauer. This year’s recipient has been selected by members of the Lion’s Club to receive the honor for outstanding citizen of Mancos. Information: 533-7434.

Sunday, Feb. 8

Mancos Pizza, located in the P&D Grocery Store 280 Highway 160 West Frontage Road, Mancos, will host a fundraiser Feb. 8 all day for two local families. Pete Loyd, owner of P&D Grocery, said that 50 percent of the sales of all pizza on Feb. 8 will be donated to the family Hayden Kocourek, a local teenager who needs a kidney transplant and has had to travel back and forth between Denver and Gary Baker, who is also experiencing medical problems.
