Resident artists are expected to propose and deliver a community offering based on their experience within one calendar year of their residency. This opportunity is open to DAC members and non-members.

Through With Chew Week gets boost from officials

Montezuma County dentists, physicians and the Public Health Department have proclaimed the week of Feb. 15–21 as “Through With Chew Week” to call attention to the use of smokeless tobacco.

In 2013, 5.7 percent of high school students in the U.S. used smokeless tobacco.

Educators and medical professionals from the Health Department will address health risks commonly associated with this type of tobacco.

Girl Scouts go gluten-free with new flavors

If you’re a fan of Thin Mints, those peppermint-patty-like wafers sold by Girl Scouts, you might want to try their new flavors this year, one of which is gluten-free.

The girls will be selling gluten-free Toffee Tastic, butter cookies with toffee bits. It’s the first time the 98-year-old organization has offered a gluten-free option nationwide.

The other new flavor, Rah-Rah Raisins, is a cookie with whole oats, raisins and yogurt-flavored chunks.

You can now buy the famous cookies online. Just ask a Girl Scout to send you a secure link to the organization’s Digital Cookie program.
