Dolores Town Board met Monday of this week to discuss facilities in a proposed park to be located at the west end of town if construction is approved for the Dolores River Dam Project. The plans for park facilities are to be filed with the Bureau of Reclamation for study.
Dr. Robert Carlson of Dolores was elected to the position of Chief of Staff for Southwest Memorial Hospital for the year 1975. He is also president of the Montelores Medical Society and will be the delegate to the state medical society's house of representatives for the next four years.
Area banks in Dolores, Naturita and Telluride all reported healthy progress over last year at their annual stockholders meetings held during the past two weeks. The Dolores State Bank, at their meeting held this week, reported good progress over the past year and showed over $1 million in growth.
Chris Walker of Dolores has been selected to be honored by High School All-Americans for 1974-75. Selection is based on outstanding athletic ability and sportsmanship, academic ability and involvement in extracurricular activities.
Two cows belonging to Wesley Wallace were killed when they wandered onto Highway 145, 7 miles north of Cortez at 6:10 p.m. on Jan. 8.
Wolf Creek Pass was closed to motor vehicle travel for about 18 hours last week when heavy snows and high winds hit that area. 52 inches of new snow fell during the five day storm, bringing the total snowfall for this winter to 213 inches.
A flurry of excitement hit Dolores on Monday of this week after Montezuma Water Co. employees accidentally cut the telephone cable between Dolores and Cortez.
At 7 p.m. on Jan. 18 Joseph Ralph Gollahen, Cortez, was cited by Aragon for driving while intoxicated and driving under suspension when he hit a vehicle belonging to Nick Randall, Dolores, which was parked at the school parking lot. The Randall vehicle was knocked against a pickup belonging to Frank Gonzales of Dolores. Damage to all three vehicles was heavy. Aragon was kept busy as there were 7 vehicles involved in accidents.
Mr. and Mrs. Bud Christensen from Salt Lake City, Utah visited with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lincoln on Tuesday evening.
Judy Martin brought Penny, Bill and a friend over from Moab early Sunday morning to ski at Stoner for the day. Judy and Bill came back to Dolores and had dinner with her mother, Mrs. Lois Rash.
Visitors at the Dick Walter home last Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Ted Walter from Durango.
Becky Blazier was an overnight guest of Tracy Walter last Saturday night. The girls went to the basketball game and then attended the Snowball Dance which followed.
Chuck and Charles Tobin and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Willett took their four-wheel drive and went up the Norwood road last Sunday, making it almost to the Groundhog turnoff.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lincoln received a telephone call from Alaska over the weekend form their daughter Mrs. Terry Johnson. She said Terry is working at Valdez this week on two big diesel engines that are at the end of the pipeline while Charlene is working part time at a rehabilitation center for psychiatric patients.
