Dolores has two new town board members this week following Tuesday evening's regular monthly meeting of the board at which Jack Willett and Terry O'Brien were sworn in. They replace Al Patscheck and Fred Stock respectively.

Teven J. Becher of Dolores recently received a United States Patent on a moveable spare tire carrier that he designed. The carrier is primarily for jeeps and similar vehicles and its purpose is to allow the spare tire to be carried at either the rear or the side of the vehicle.

A traffic accident during a heavy snow storm, the second in Dolores in the past two weeks to cause serious injuries, occurred on Jan. 6 at 7:10 p.m. in front of the Dolores Shell Service on SH 145. According to a report from Dolores Town Marshal Charlie Aragon, Frankie L. Vavra of Dolores, was east bound when he applied brakes, going into a skid and hitting a west bound semi-truck, knocking the Vavra vehicle 67 feet. Vavra received a broken neck and other injuries in the accident. He was transported by plane to Denver where from last reports, his condition remains critical.

The bank robbery in Mancos caused some jitters among employees at the Aztec Citizens Bank last week. When some new faces showed up at the bank to service the coffee machine on Monday, someone tripped an alarm sending a whole contingent of city, state and county police to the scene.

Two recent break-ins are still under investigation but no information has been released through the District Attorney's office on disposition of one that has been solved according to Town Marshal Charlie Aragon. During Christmas week, someone broke into the Dolores Cafe and on Christmas Day the Dolores Shell Station was broken into. Two suspects in the later case have been interrogated, according to Aragon.

Mrs. Caddie Plumlee and Mrs. Murl Powell had lunch with Mrs. Lois Rash on Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Brewer and baby son were dinner guests at the home of Don's brother, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Brewer in Durango last Friday evening.

Right after Christmas friends of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy LaFrance, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Swinson and two children, Tom and Bunny, and his sister Janie Swinson all from Del Rio, Texas arrived to spend a few days visiting with the LaFrances.

Margie Welch entertained her regular Tuesday bridge club last Friday evening.

Mary Akin was a new Years dinner guest at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Margie Wilson and son Eddie.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Pixler from Durango visited with Mr. and Mrs. Don Brewer.

Mr. and Mrs. Tommy McQuaid are here from their home in California to spend two to three weeks enjoying the skiing in the area.

Rhonda Kay Johnson entertained with a New Years Eve party while she was here for the holidays.

Shawna Ryan had a back-to-school party last Thursday night with ten guests. The girls also had a slumber party.

Guests at the Tommy LaFrances during the Christmas holidays included their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Whitworth III and son Jack IV, from Sherman, Texas; their son Mr. and Mrs. Tommy LaFrance and two daughters, Jackie and Christie from Eagle Pass, Texas and Mrs. R. M. From from Del Rio, Texas.
