The 43rd annual Elks Hoop Shoot was held on Dec. 6 at Cortez Middle School and attended by 20 students between the ages of 8 and 13.
Brianna Allen finished first in the girls 8-9 year-old division and Dean York finished first in the 8-9 year-old boys division. Taiah Wilson won the girls 10-11 year-old division and Tyrell Benelly won the boys 10-11 year-old division. Nyra Simmons finished first in the 12-13 year-old division and Ryan Medina finished first in the boys 12-13 year old division.
The winners will advance to the District Competition at Fort Lewis College on Feb. 24 where they will compete against winners from Durango, Ouray, Telluride, Montrose, Delta, Hotchkiss and Grand Junction.
