That we should even have to debate that torturing another human being is an unacceptable practice is in itself incredulous to me. But there are some who would like you to believe we as a nation are safer because of it.
I watched a clip of a Fox newswoman who thinks it is, “awesome,” that we do so and she loudly shouted down any dissenting voices to her opinion. And the leader of this crowd is the sniveling coward Dick Cheney. This draft-dodging snake would like you to think that degrading another human being is acceptable and warranted to save lives, while the report shows nothing of the sort. Even his Republican colleague Sen. John McCain denounced the practice on the Senate floor.
Yes, Dick Cheney wants to protect us and is proud of his contributions to America. Never mind he had five deferments to serve in Vietnam. He doesn’t mind spilling blood as long as it isn’t his own. He is a disgrace to the men and women who did serve. And somehow he came to be the vice president of our nation and architect of the despicable policies at the CIA.
Do not be deceived by this coward. If you allow him and the people that are like him to convince you that torture is somehow OK, it will come back to bite you. There is no honor in degrading another human being in a small darkened room where no one hears, and you will be held accountable.
In the movie, “A Few Good Men,” one of the defendants didn’t understand why he was guilty and asked his co-defendant what he did wrong? The succinct reply was that they didn’t defend the defenseless. Regardless of whether we like our prisoners or not, we are now responsible for their welfare. That is who we are. Americans. This why people flock here. Are we clear?
